This mum-of-three has never been afraid to speak her mind so it's perhaps unsurprising that Katie Hopkins has weighed in on the childhood obesity debate.

While much of the time her barbed comments seem unnecessary, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant appears passionate about this particular issue and feels she has the solution to the problem.

Suggesting that overweight and obese children should be required to attend "specialist sports schools", the controversial figure thinks the health of today's children is paramount, saying: " One in ten of our children at the age of four is already overweight or obese and I can't stand it."

The star doesn't mince her words when discussing the issue in her vlog  and column for Now! magazine, claiming overweight children and their families make her "teeth itch and nipple twizzle."

Adamant that a child's weight is a parent's responsibility, Katie goes on to say: "I’ve always said that a fat child lives in the shadow of a fat parent. The fat kids go through the school gates and there’s the fat mum in the car, who doesn’t bother to get out, still wearing her pyjamas… and that really does my head in."

Katie has always maintained that losing weight necessitates time and willpower, having proved capable of losing four stone for her TV programme Making Me Fat.

While Katies's comments can be construed as insensitive, the columnist disagrees, saying: "There’s loads of fat kids and we don’t say anything because that would be fat-shaming, or bullying… well, I disagree completely."
