When we are experiencing highly pressurised situations it is easy to let our emotions get the better of us, often causing us to lash out or get upset.

Unfortunately, we all suffer from pressure every now and then whether it’s due to work or your home life, but thankfully, there are plenty of ways to help you keep your cool:

Be flexible

Nowadays, you need to be flexible in your schedule as things can crop up at any time. Having just one solution will just cause more problems, so try to think of other ways to handle certain situations.

Breathe

Proper breathing is one of the most effective ways to help you calm down. Remember to take long, deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Put it in perspective

It is easy to dramatise everything and turn it into a bigger issue than what it actually is. Instead, telling yourself that you can cope and that it’s not really a big deal can help you put any problems into perspective.

Think of the here and now

Don’t let your mind wander so try to focus on the here and now. There is no point making the situation worse by thinking too far ahead.

Focus on something good

If it feels like everything is spiralling out of control, try to focus in on an aspect of your life that is good. This can help you feel grounded, positive and therefore a little calmer.
