We all know that bonding with a baby doesn’t just happen overnight for everyone, something Kelly Clarkson’s mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, is familiar with.

Talking at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, Reba, who is an American country music singer, said that every time she looked at Kelly's daughter, River Rose, the baby would start "squawking”.

However, it didn’t take much for the ten-month-old to fall in love with her Gran, as Reba went on to say: “So at Christmas at their house, I said, ‘Kelly, give her to me.’ I held her and started feeding her. She looked at the bottle, looked at me and smiled. We’ve been friends ever since.”

Kelly, who married the 60-year-old’s son Brandon Blackstock back in 2013, become emotional as she introduced the music star at the Awards over the weekend.

Recalling an incident nine years ago, the mum-of-one, who gave birth to her daughter last year, said: “When I was at the ACMs nine years ago, I yelled across the crowded backstage to Reba, ‘I want to be you when I grow up!’. So basically what I’m saying here, people, is that I have the coolest mother-in-law and you all can suck it.”
