About

Portsmouth’s D-Day Museum is Britain’s only museum dedicated solely to covering all aspects of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, on 6 June 1944. D-Day was a turning point in the Second World War, and a moment when the course of world events depended on the Allied troops taking part. Find out more about what you can see in the museum's displays, including the Overlord Embroidery.

Have an old garment that you’d like to re-invent? Have a stash of wonderful old materials but not sure what to do with it? Want to capture memories in textiles, while learning a range of skills such as hand embroidery, applique, printing, collage and machine stitch. No experience needed and all ages welcome to take part.

Making Space, a Leigh Park-based organisation that promotes contemporary craft, art and design, is delivering a series of workshops in September and October, led by two textile artists, Ami Lowman and June Allnutt.

Have a look at D-Day on your Doorstep, our unique new listing of locations throughout the UK that are connected to the D-Day Landings (we encourage you to add your own locations too).
