About

Cape Wrath is a place where it is possible to view both Orkney and the Western Isles.  There is no land mass between here and the Arctic.

The name Cape Wrath is derived from the old norse for "Turning Point", highlighting its significance 1,000s of years ago to Viking explorers from Scandinavia.

Once a populated community, it is now a rough and rugged terrain.

There are many places of interest and beauty in Cape Wrath, as well as a wealth of wildlife in the area.

It is a site of special scientific interest and a special protection area for birds with 10s of 1,000s of breeding birds on its cliffs including puffins, razor bills, fulmars, kittiwakes and guillemots.
