The pop pin-up said prior to becoming a dad he’d never changed a nappy before and was slightly apprehensive about the task, according to The Mail Online.

“When he was first born... I had never even changed a nappy. I never had any younger siblings or people to change nappies on,” Liam explained.

“It's not something I would partake as a hobby... I don't know if I'm speaking on behalf of other dads but you work on your feet because you have to it's your responsibility,” Liam said.

While changing nappies may not be his favourite thing to do, Liam says he is happy to do anything for his little son.

“The moment that little boy or girl looks in your eyes your life is changed forever”, the doting dad revealed.

He also opened up about how One Direction going their separate ways turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to him.

“We (One Direction) hadn't taken any time out and we needed that, and I'm so glad I did because now I have little baby Bear,' he said as the radio hosts congratulated him.

Liam and Cheryl’s relationship and Cheryl’s subsequent pregnancy came as a shock to many due to the couple's ten year age gap.

Baby Bear was born on March 22 after intense media speculation surrounding the birth. The couple revealed the good news with a cute snap of Liam cradling the newborn baby in his arms just before Mother’s Day.

An overjoyed Liam made an emotional tribute to his son saying: “My close friends and family know there are very few times when I'm left speechless... wow!
