Mark Allen Hughes, a dad from Tennessee has been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect after forcing his 15-year-old son to drink vodka until he passed out.
Mark had found his teenage son drinking, and as a punishment forced him to drink shot after shot of vodka in a drinking game.
When witnesses found the boy he was lying unconscious on the kitchen floor. When they tried to take the boy to the hospital, the dad started to fight them and the police were called.
When police arrived at the scene, the teenager had no pulse and they had to perform CPR for several minutes until paramedic arrived. The boy was flown to hospital and placed on a ventilator.
Local Police Chief Eddie Byrum is horrified at the case, and plans to use this prosecution as a warning to other irresponsible parents.
"We're going to prosecute it to the fullest," the Police Chief said. "We'd like to use this as an example where if anybody else is out there and thinks this is how they're going to govern their children or direct them, we will put a stop to it."
