We all love our 'me time'. It is the one part of our day, week or month which we thoroughly enjoy.

We treasure every second, be it to read a book, go for a run, or to simply sit in silence with our thoughts.

It's glorious.

We love our children to pieces, but it is a much needed break when you're running around in circles all day, so we should never feel guilty about taking the time out.

But, Ginger Hughes, has admitted that when her time out didn't go as planned, she didn't fall apart either.

The mum-of-two, was taking three hours to herself and she could not wait; she was going to catch up on house work and some writing time.

However, fate would have it that her three-year-old was going to be staying at home - her plans out the window.

"I was supposed to have three uninterrupted hours to myself. This is not all that common, and when it happens, I’ll be honest; I enjoy it. I had plenty of plans."

"I won’t lie. I was a little disappointed. A part of me was even frustrated that I couldn't have 'my time'."

Instead the mum ended up on the couch watching cartoons, and creating a mess with toys instead of cleaning.

"Instead of enjoying my time alone, I felt two little arms reach around my neck, squeezing so tightly in the very best of hugs."

"Things didn’t go as planned. Not by a long shot. I missed out on some things. But what I gained was far better, and brought even more joy and certainly more memories!"

Ginger's post is a reminder that if things don't go according to plan, still give it a chance, because it might just become the best of memories.

"Sometimes, maybe often times, unexpected circumstances can bring moments that are far greater than we could have ever planned," concluded the mum-of-two.
