Lachlan, Kelly and Blake are what the media have dubbed 'triplings:' three babies born from the sperm of one man and one egg donor, but carried by different surrogates.

Right now, they're stuck on the other side of the world with their dads, David, and Irish-born Nicky Beard.

The new parents were allegedly scammed by the surrogate agency they used in Mexico, leaving them crippled financially and at the centre of a legal storm.

The result? They can't bring their tots back home to New Zealand.

Grace Nixon, a close friend of biological dad David, has set pu a Give A Little Page, which has already amassed $5,708,000 in just 24 hours.

The hospital care for one of the babies, Lachlan, cost the couple over $118,000 New Zealand dollars.

"Unfortunately the Agency that was supposed to help them left them stranded on arrival...and they went into hiding with their final payments for the births," Grace wrote on her Give A Little Page.

"This meant that they had to pay all the birthing fees again along with the after cafe for the surrogate mothers."

As if that wasn't bad enough, the couple believe they were the last gay couple allowed to use international surrogates to give birth to their children, as Mexico is tightening its IVF laws to bring them in line with most other countries.

"The problem now is that they are stranded in this third world country with little or no finances just left and another month or so of bureaucracy to get through."

"No one could have predicted that any of this was going to happen and that they were going to be left abandoned by the agency, it's such a shame," Grace told Daily Mail Australia

"Both Nicky and David are being so strong throughout it all for each other, though, and their beautiful little babies."

While Lachlan has now made a full recovery, all of the babies, Lachlan, Kelly and Blake, are less than a month old and the parents remain unable to leave Mexico because they cannot fund the 800 kilometre journey in order to obtain passports for the children and undergo DNA testing to prove parentage.

According to GayNZ, the couple have spent four years saving for these children only to have their adoption agency abandon them and find themselves extreme debt, thanks to circumstances they couldn't possibly have predicted.

David, Nicky, Lachlan, Blake and Kelly simply want to come home to their family,' was the plea issued by David and Nicky on March 29th.

The couple are pleading for help, both from the New Zealand and Mexican governments, but also from their friends and family around the world.

But so far, to no avail.

The Mexican government has assured them they would be allowed to take the children out of the country, but the situation is moving slowly.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand government has simply told them that there are always legal risks involved.

While getting their children home is their biggest concern, for a while there it was premature Lachlan, whose illness was worsened by the cockroaches in the unhygienic hospital conditions.

"The sad thing was that I had to sit outside Lachlan's neonatal ward, only catching glimpses through the pulled blind, but I sat there like a loyal dog. I can't put it into words," David said.

In spite of their difficulties however, the proud parents remain upbeat:

"Despite being stranded in Mexico this story does have an exceptionally happy ending," David said.

"[We] are the proud fathers of three beautiful babies, Lachlan, Blake and Kelly."
