Authorities in Kansas, US, have confirmed that doctors were able to safely deliver a child before its mother passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident.
According to reports, the as yet unnamed woman was 39 weeks pregnant and driving in the Overland Park suburb on Sunday night when her vehicle was struck. The accident is said to have involved eight people, and six victims were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Thankfully, doctors were able to save the unborn child, and it was delivered shortly before its mother tragically lost her fight for life. The baby, whose gender has not yet been confirmed, is said to be doing well in hospital.
This is an incredibly tragic event to befall the family and all those involved, and they will remain in our thoughts today. Here’s hoping that this little tot will continue to thrive after its traumatic start to life
