With a four-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy, a part-time job as an RE teacher and a successful blog to run, Emma Conway is one very busy lady.

The mum-of-two started her blog, Brummy Mummy of 2, back in 2013 when she was on maternity leave, and after watching a number of vlogs and following other bloggers she decided to give it a go herself. She has contributed to The Huffington Post among others and was even interviewed by CNN.

Clearly a very busy mum, we were delighted when Emma took the time out to share her parenting secrets.

What is the most important thing you have learned since becoming a mum?

The most important thing to remember is that it is ok to be a bit useless sometimes - no one is the perfect mum and no one gets everything right all of the time. Celebrate the things you are fab at and don’t worry about the ones that you are crap at. For example, I ROCK reading bedtime stories in different accents, but I SUCK at making cakes! Remember to just be you and your kids will love you regardless.

What's the most ridiculous/hilarious/unbelievable thing your child has done?

This classic happened at a birthday party! Everyone was silently eating away when my then three-year-old pipes up with: “On the way here my mummy said a really really bad word…” Cue me literally ramming a sausage roll in her mouth and laughing manically to shut her up!

What's the weirdest thing you've said/done as a parent?

I once wrote a blog post which confessed to the fact that sometimes I clean my privates with baby wipes!

Name one thing you do that helps keep you sane?

YouTube. I cannot count the ways in which I love YouTube. My love for it is two fold: on one side it has hour long Peppa Pig videos or that weird Kinder Egg lady for the kids while on the other side it has plenty of rubbish for me. It relaxes me so much I can lose hours! I adore it.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to other mums?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. If your house is a bit messy, you're still in your pyjamas at 11am or you forgot to pack a sun hat, it really doesn’t matter. As long as everyone is happy, healthy and you manage to survive the day without you or your little ones having a full breakdown, YOU ROCK!

If you had to choose just one thing that you absolutely love about being a mum, what would it be?

The fun factor - kids make life fun! You get to jump in puddles, throw yourself in ball pools or sit in bed eating popcorn and watching Frozen three times a week. Every day is just another excuse to do something hilarious. As exhausting as life with two small children is - it ruddy rocks!
