Mum calls police when manager asks her to leave store... because...

A mum was standing in line at a tax office with a friend in Georgia, when her baby decided he was hungry.

So naturally, like any mother, the mum fed her baby.

But this mum, Avery Lane, breastfeeds her two-month-old baby boy, and as we all know, you shouldn’t breastfeed your baby in public, right?

Nope, it doesn’t work like that folks.

When the manager approached Avery and requested she cover up, Avery replied with an epic request of her own:

“No, but I have a muslin if you would like to cover your face?”

With the new mum adding: “You must not know Georgia's breastfeeding laws.”

However, unfortunately for Avery, it didn’t stop there.

So I was breastfeeding my 2 month old at a H&R Block on a military post when the manager asked me "Can you cover up with a towel or something?" I was completely shocked so I raised my voice slightly and said "No but I have a muslin if you would like to cover your face. You must not know Georgia's breastfeeding laws." He asked me to leave since he was helping my friend and not me. So I then called the Military Police so they could come and inform him of them. I'm glad they came and informed him that he could not tell me to leave. Also one of the MPs told me that there is nothing wrong with a mother breastfeeding her child. I'm only posting this because I hope more moms will stand up to normalize breastfeeding. I refuse to cover my child or nurse in my car.

When she refused to cover up, the manager continued to ask her to leave the premises as he was aiding her friend and not her.

Avery, holding her own, called for the military police who in turn informed the manager that asking the mum to leave was in fact, illegal.

Avery posted her story online as the new mum hopes it will inspire other mums to stand up for their choices, and they can normalise breastfeeding.

After her post went viral, the mum also answered many questions she was asked from mums, on her YouTube channel.

Many people have asked Avery if she feels this man should be fired from his job because of the incident, but Avery was quite calculated in her response.

"No, I don’t want anyone to be fired from their job, their source of income."

"I feel he needed to be educated, and now that he is, there's no need for him to be fired," she adds.

Kudos to Avery for standing up for both herself and her baby, what a great mum!
