A mum in Texas found herself in a bit of trouble when her labour progressed much faster than she had anticipated.

Vanessa DeLeon had already begun the very early stages of labour when she went in to register her four-year-old son for preschool in September.

The mum-of-four was worried that the school would fill up and her son wouldn’t get a place, so felt she had to enrol him straight away.

Having already had three kids and three very long labours, she thought she had plenty of time to kill before heading to the hospital.

As she submitted the last of the forms Vanessa asked staff, “Am I missing anything else? Cause I’m in labour now and I have to go,”

Unfortunately she didn’t even make it as far as the car.

The school nurse was called into action in a way she never expected, and delivered the 6lb baby boy in her office.

Everything happened so fast, the nurse said she didn’t even have time to get her surgical gloves on. Not having any blankets, she wrapped baby Geovanni in school t-shirts.

Both mum and baby are healthy and happy, and now have a great story to tell.

If there’s a lesson to be learned from this story (other than ‘don’t try and do paperwork when you’re already in labour’) it is: Don’t make assumptions based on your last pregnancy.

Even on baby number four, things can go completely unexpectedly.
