A mum from Virginia was asked to leave a restaurant this week after customers complained about her ordering alcoholic drinks while breastfeeding.

Crystal Dize was in Big Woody’s Bar & Grill with her 11-month-old son, and had ordered a beer and a shot in front of her when she started breastfeeding.

The General Manager came over to question her after some customers complained about it, before asking her to leave.

Crystal claims she was planning to drink the alcohol after she was finished, saying she only had a few sips of the beer.

“I had a huge water I was downing. I had a beer and a shot of Fireball in front of me but that was for after I was done,” she told local news reporters.

Crystal took to Facebook to complain about the restaurant, saying it was discrimination against her breastfeeding, not about the alcohol.

“Just got told by the General Manager Danny that I need to be discreet breastfeeding my baby while outside on the deck cuz customers are uncomfortable.”

“I stated it is a law that I can breastfeed in public and I am being discreet. That I will be more discreet. He says are you drinking? I said no I am drinking water. He then says he can deny service and we will be cashing out.”

“So BOYCOTT Big Woody's. I am sooooo upset!! Please share. I told the manager I am posting to social media. I suggest a breastfeeding sit in!”

The restaurant insists it wasn’t due to the breastfeeding, but due to the complaints from the other customers about the alcohol.

While restaurants have the right to deny service, there is no law against women drinking while breastfeeding, and no medical consensus on whether it is dangerous to the child.
