While Hilaria Baldwin came in for praise for sharing unedited photos of her ‘shrinking Baldwin bump’, a number of mums were frustrated by the pictures, claiming that she did not represent the majority of women.

All new mums are brave and beautiful, but they also come in all different shapes and sizes, which is why so many women are spreading the word about one mother's real and raw insight into how different her own post-baby journey has been.

Mother-of-two Julie Bhosale has launched a ‘take back the postpartum body' blog, in which she has charted her after-birth figure and showcased her “real body after two children”.

On her blog, My Real Postpartum Body, Julie has shared photos of herself from 24 hours to 14 weeks after giving birth, and the results are very refreshing to see.

One blog extract that we – and so many other mums can relate to – shows a less glamorous side to being a new mother.

“Have I showered or changed my pjs …cannot confirm. Normally a size A cup, I am giving Kate Upton a run for her money. What’s more these puppies are ON FIRE and I still don’t know how to bloody use them… I am a mess of body fluid. I am wearing not one but two enormous maternity pads, inside granny panties to try and contain the postpartum bleeding. Golf ball sized blood clots keep coming out. I have to keep these to be inspected and make sure it is not part of the placenta. Where has my dignity gone?” she writes, at two days postpartum.

While the photos are certainly inspiring, so is nutritionist Julie’s message: while we sometimes can’t help but concentrate on how we look, it’s just as much about how we feel.

“You may not look like the next Victoria’s Secret Underwear model, but focus on how you feel. Be kind to yourself and your body, you will look like how you are meant to when you feel good. It may take some time,” assures Julie.

We love her refreshing attitude. What are your thoughts?
