Zuo Hongyan suffered complications during the birth of her son in 1988, leaving him with cerebral palsy.

The woman who resided in central China was encouraged to give her son up, by both doctors and her husband.

They believed the boy would be severely disabled or have low intelligence, becoming a burden on the family.

In an act of defiance and love for her child, Zuo refused, divorcing her husband and caring for her son Ding.

Zou took on several jobs, working full-time at a college in Wuhan, as well as part time as a protocol trainer and selling insurance.

In her down time, the mum also took her son to rehabilitation sessions, learned how to massage his muscles, and played intelligence boosting games with the youngster.

Nonetheless, her love for her son was the driving force behind her determination, and she’s now the proudest mum she could be.

Ding, who is now 29-years-old, has outdone all expectations – graduating from Peking University in 2011 and completing a master’s degree in the university’s School of Law.

Ding went on to work for two years after obtaining his degree but has now gained entry to Ivy League’s Harvard University stateside for further studies.

Really just proves that a mother’s love knows no bounds.
