When Amber Rojas was expecting her fifth child, the mum knew there was something different about the pregnancy.

After being through it three times before (she gave birth to twins), she was well versed on what to expect during the nine months.

However, as she explained to CafeMom, no one believed her concerns until her daughter arrived that is.

"I didn't know why or what but I always told my husband this baby was going to be different," Amber explained.

"My pregnancy wasn't different but I knew something was. [My husband] kept saying it was because we didn't know what the baby was."

A sonogram didn't reveal anything but the mum couldn't shift her gut feeling.

And when baby Amadeus arrived, Amber realised what her gut had been telling her all along: her baby has Down syndrome.

But while Amber knew instantly, no one else seemed to, and the mum began to think she was going crazy.

"She felt really limp, and her eyes -- we all have small eyes but hers were small in a different way," she explained.

"I kept thinking, why isn't anyone saying anything... I thought I was crazy..."

But then, just before she left the hospital, a nurse came in, and confirmed the news.

"In that moment I was like I knew it! I KNEW IT! Finally I didn't feel crazy! I knew I was right! I knew something was different when I was pregnant and then immediately became a worker bee," she says.

"I wanted to know everything they knew about babies with Down syndrome so I could best care for my daughter Amadeus. We didn't care that she had Down syndrome because we were all obsessed with her and all of her chromosomes!"

The Rojas family are besotted with their little girl, and it's not surprising - just look at her adorable little face.
