A mother has shared a warning post with the world this week, in a bid to draw attention to a lesser-spoken-of sign of breast cancer.

Sherrie Rhodes took to Facebook to reach out to women everywhere, the day after being diagnosed with the disease.

The mum-of-three, from Hull, admitted that the news came as a ‘total shock’ to her, as she had no lumps. Instead, her cancer manifested itself in the form of dimpling on the side of her breast.

Sharing a photo of the affected breast, Sherrie explained: “I noticed it [at the] end of June. Two days later, I went to my GP, who referred me to the breast clinic.

“I went there just over a week ago, and had a scan which revealed a mass. I then had a mammogram which confirmed it, so had some biopsies done the same day.”

Sherrie admitted that she ‘wasn’t too worried’ about the examinations, as there was no trace of a lump. This is primarily due to the fact that, while lumps are frequently spoken about in relation to cancer, dimpling is a less-spoken-about symptom.

The diagnosis has undoubtedly left Sherrie reeling, and she has bravely chosen to share her photograph and story so that she can save another from going through the same heartache.

“Please check your breast regularly, and don’t ignore anything that is different,” she urged.

“If I hadn’t see a post like this previously, I wouldn’t have known that this dimpling was a sign of cancer. Please, share and raise awareness.”

Sherrie’s important warning post quickly gathered attention across social media, and has since gone viral.

Down in the comment section, many people have praised Sherrie for thinking of others at such a difficult time.

“Great that you’re sharing this, Sherrie. You’re strong enough to fight this, and knowing you have all this support will only make your stronger,” wrote one well-wisher.

Another added: “I am so proud of you for sharing this. You’re a fighter, and your bravery to do this will raise awareness to others.

“I’ve known you almost all of your life, and be sure to know that I’m with you 100 percent. Sending you and your beautiful family love and strength at this time.”

Well done to Sherrie for sharing this post – we are sure her actions will save lives.
