A 24-year-old mum took home an incredible $66 million after she discovered she had a winning lottery ticket.
Kelsey Zachow, from Michigan in the US, didn’t even know she had the winning ticket until 11 days after she bought it on Friday the 13th June - not such an unlucky day for this mum.
“When the clerk at the store told me I had a big winner I was positive that he was mistaken,” Kelsey said.
“There was a long line in the store behind me, so I decided to leave and looked the numbers up on MichiganLottery.com when I got into my car. That’s when I realised I had won the jackpot and could barely breathe,” the mum added.
Kelsey raced home to tell her boyfriend of three years Billy Bartlett about the news.
The pair are parents to a seven-month-old boy called Benjamin, while Billy has a five-year-old daughter from a previous relationship called Evelyn.
Kelsey has been working as a medical assistant and bartender to pay the bills, as Billy lost his construction job a year ago.
“I have always wanted an electric blue Ford Mustang, and one day I will get one, but helping my family live comfortably comes first for me,” she said.
