As mums, most of us hope our kids wouldn’t get involved in the whole selfie trend until they were well in their teens. Unless it's for a very good cause, of course.
Mums and dads all over the UK have taken to Instagram to share their baby’s first selfie to raise awareness for Water Aid UK’s Deliver Life campaign.
The aim of the appeal is to help transform the lives of 130,000 women who give birth in places without clean water or safe water all around the world. According to the charity, every minute a newborn baby dies from infection caused by a lack of safe water and an unclean environment.
The idea of the social media campaign is to build empathy and solidarity with women who give birth without the basic sanitation people in the UK take for granted, according to Joe Downie from Water Aid UK.
"By sharing an image of yourself either when you were a baby, or as a parent holding your own newly-born child, you’re reminded of just how small and delicate we all are in early life and how much more vulnerable we are without safe, hygienic conditions at birth and in early life," Joe told HuffPost Parents.
Celebrities including Claire Sweeney and Samia Ghadie among many others have taken to Twitter and Instagram to share their support.
