Woah, this mum is very honest – and we kinda love her for it.

Our kids are our whole world – and being a mum is the best job we’ll ever do. That is a given.

But what’s also a given is that it’s bloody tough work!

So when we read the brutally honest open letter a mum shared on Facebook, our first thought was, girl, we’ve been there.

Writing the (pretty damn funny) post to the #nojudgementclub (they sound like our kind of people tbh) Storm-Manea Ellyat railed against the unrealistic representation of motherhood as seen on the likes of “baby spam on Instagram”.

“It feels like a sick joke you never quite understood until this moment,” she wrote. “All those cute Bond’s ads, miniature Nike shoes, adorable baby shower gifts, baby spam on Instagram, squad dates with your mum posse and those god damn laceylaners [sic] lied to me. Not once did I see an ad with a mum locked in her cupboard crying in her leaked stained pjs from 3 days ago, covered in sweat and vomit, praying to every god imaginable for the strength and patience to go back to the s***show that is now their life.”

And she continues with the sensitive observation that although parenting can be SO hard at times, admitting we’re struggling can be a “kick in the face” to people who would give anything to have kids.

“And the irony, oh the irony that everyone hates it at one point or another but you have to remember that hating it out loud is a kick in the face to everyone that would give everything for a moment of “hating it,” she writes.

As mums, one of the hardest things to get used to is that while we’re still ‘us’, things will never really be the same again: “The once calm, poised, patient goddess, who could sling cocktails, swear with sailors and dance uninhibited until tomorrow afternoon, can bearly [sic] hold a conversation, hold her eyes open or the tears back from this new found ‘bliss’,” Storm-Manea bemoans.

And our favourite part of her post? The bit where she smashes the unrealistic representations of motherhood with a few choice (read: hilarious) words:

“When there’s no cameras, no people and no judgement you let out the loudest F*** YOOOOUUUU known to man, although it’s under your breathe [sic], or screamed into a pillow, or yelled from the foetal [sic] position of your cupboard because your little one’s finally asleep. So we somehow pick our shattered self off the floor, trying to piece together a resemblance of a person and do it all again.

“Cheers all you amazing parents that dust yourselves off and do it again, with the smile of a thousand curse words, shattered souls and hopefully a strong coffee or wine in hand. Your [sic] my people.”

When we hear stuff like this it makes us feel 100 times better. We breathe a sigh of relief that is not just us who breaks down from time to time! And we’re so grateful to mums like Storm-Manea who have the courage to tell it like it really is.

SHARE if you can totally relate to Storm-Manea’s post!
