A mum has shared a photo of her breastfeeding her son in public on Instagram – and while the image has been the source of both support and contention, we are sharing it simply because we think it’s beautiful.
Lounging on what looks to be a beach chair, Julia Prudko appears to be fully nude while her son Fedor is latched to her breast.
The image has received much criticism online from people who think Julia is inappropriate, or an attention seeking, but we think it’s the epitome of peace and contentment between and mother and son.
Besides, we see far more ‘attention-seeking’ displays every day on the image sharing platform, with women posing much more suggestively than Julia. And while we are in no way shaming them, we’re just pondering why they don’t get half the flak as mums doing the most natural thing in the world – the thing they’re bodies were designed to do by nature and not the edict of an over-sexualised society.
“I figured there is no point in trying to convince the haters,” Julia told The Daily Mail.
“I'm happy to join the army of militant supporters. I absolutely do believe it is very very important to explain to the public that you need to feed your baby, when and where he wants to be fed.
“You don't have to turn into a recluse, not leaving the house. You can and should live a full life and share this colourful life with your child.”
