How many of us have curled up on the couch with Episode 1 of our favourite Netflix show, only to wake up two hours later and find ourselves mysteriously halfway through the entire series?

If you can relate all too well to the disaster that is dozing off while watching your favourite streaming service, then rest assured that Netflix has come up with the ultimate solution – Netflix Socks!

In what is possibly one of the most genius moves of the year, Netflix has shared a DIY tutorial for making your own socks that will automatically pause the show if you fall asleep!

If you like what you’re hearing, then you might want to give that techy friend and the knitting-obsessive in your life a call. This step-by-step tutorial calls on you to knit your own socks (props for the wine theme, guys) and then connect it up to your Netflix through a microcontroller.

Apparently, the built-in controller works off of an accelerometer, which monitors your movement and activates when you haven't shuffled around in a while.

While the Netflix Socks aren’t yet for sale, we’re betting that demand will be so high that they could just pop up online at some stage over Christmas!

If you have a particularly creative friend, and they’re at a loss as to what to get you for Christmas, direct them to the video below. Pure genius!
