When our kids move away for work or college, it can be very taxing on a loving, worrisome mum – so, sometimes, a little surprise visit can work wonders.

This was exactly what US mother Deanna Pilling had in mind recently, when she travelled to Utah State University to see her 18-year-old daughter, McKenna.

Once Deanna reached the university, she wasted no time in heading to McKenna’s dorm room. With her daughter nowhere to be seen, and clearly delighted with herself for pulling off the best surprise ever, Deanna proceeded to take a selfie on McKenna’s bed and send it to the teen.

You can imagine, then, how confused McKenna was when she received the message – while sitting on her ACTUAL bed, in her ACTUAL dorm room.

“Where’s that? I’m in my dorm. Please tell me you’re not in someone else’s dorm,” responded McKenna.

“I am in the wrong dorm, OMG,” replied Deanna.

Inconsolable over the hilarity of it all, McKenna screen-shotted the text exchange and shared it on Twitter – and it wasn’t long before it went viral.

“Shout out to Momma Pilling for being hilarious and going viral on Twitter. Happy Mother’s Day, love you,” she later tweeted, on Sunday.

This could easily have been a story about us!

SHARE to give a fellow mum a good laugh on this dreary morning.
