Having become a father for the first time two years ago, music industry heavyweight, Simon Cowell, knows all too well how frightening it can be when your child is suffering, and a recent gesture made by the X Factor judge goes a long way towards showing that.

In a move which has the potential to change the lived experience of a family in Newcastle, the 56-year-old star has donated a whopping £25,000 in order to assist the Musgroves in their efforts to treat their little boy who is currently battling cancer.

The family of three-year-old Kian Musgrove launched an appeal to raise funds so that their son, who is living with neuroblastoma, may be given the opportunity to travel to the United States and avail of treatment at a New York clinic.

According to ITV News, the music mogul made contact with Kian's family and pledged the huge sum before taking to social media to pay tribute to the small boy who has shown considerable strength in the face of adversity.

In a touching post on Twitter, Simon sought to raise awareness of the Musgrove's online campaign, writing: "Kian Musgrove is a truly brave young boy. Let’s help get him to NYC for the life-saving treatment he needs."

Responding to Simon's generous donation which goes a long way towards the family's £500,000 target, Kian's mum, Kat, took to her own social media channels, telling Facebook followers she was overwhelmed by the unprecedented display of generosity.

Revealing that she's "not able to sleep with happiness," Kat continued: "Thank you so much Simon Cowell for your kindness, it really means a lot, thank you so much."

We're thinking of Kian and his family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time in their lives.
