Netflix has warned their users of an email scam that steals people’s credit card information.

Hackers have been fooling Netflix users into handing over their card details by sending around sophisticated emails.

The computer hackers are using big brands like Netflix to target the public.

A spokesperson for the streaming service stated that Netflix users should be extremely cautious if they receive an email requesting their personal card details.

They warned customers to never open emails unless they are directly from Netflix.com.

"Never enter your login or financial details after following a link in an email or text message. If you’re unsure if you’re visiting our legitimate Netflix website, type www.netflix.com directly into your web browser,” they advised.

The fake email may fool many people because of how believable it looks, as it features the Netflix logo and Netflix is listed as the sender.

The streaming service has asked users not to give out the following details:

  • Payment information (credit card number, debit card number, direct debit account, PIN)
  • Social security number or tax identification number
  • Your account password

Be careful, mums!
