There’s nothing quite like going on Instagram, seeing a celebrity looking INCREDIBLE only a week after having a baby, and having a bit of a crisis. It’s just not fair!
This is why we are so in awe of reality star Jamie Otis, who is getting real about that post-birth life - unashamedly, unapologetically, and flawlessly.
Jamie, who came to prominence on the reality show Married At First Sight – where she met her husband, Doug Hehner – welcomed baby Henley Grace four weeks ago.
To mark her first month with her daughter, Jamie took to Instagram to give an insight into what post-birth life has been like.
She posted a photo of herself wearing just her underwear, her little one in her arms. In the caption, she opened up about all of the things she has learned from the pregnancy, birth and post-birth experience.
One of the first big lessons, is how painful the process has been.
“I never knew the excruciating pain that came AFTER having a baby,” she wrote.
“I never truly realised how painful the healing process is – for, like, weeks. Peeing with stitches, trying to poo, breastfeeding…even just sitting down. OUCH!”
Of course, the pain has been well and truly worth it, for the abundance of love that Jamie has experienced with her baby.
That love even makes it possible to function on just four hours of sleep – and accept the fact that your body isn’t going to ‘snap back’ to its previous shape.
Pointing out her ‘hospital undies’, Jamie added: “Nope, not back to my normal size. And nope, don’t care at all…I’m just focusing on being as healthy as I can be while nursing.”
Jamie’s followers flocked to the comment section to thank her for her words, and to share their own thoughts on ‘the fourth trimester’.
“All I see is a beautiful mama with her beautiful baby girl. Nothing but love,” wrote one supportive fan.
Another added: “I struggled at times to embrace my post-partum bod (especially in the early weeks), but I tried to remind myself that even the extra pounds had a purpose – my body stored up extra fat to support breastmilk production. Amazing! Keep on keeping on, girl.”
What they said, Jamie!
