While birthday boy Prince George is sometimes singled out as the naughty one, the youngster who turned four today, was exceptionally well-behaved while on a royal tour of Poland and Germany.

Two-year-old Charlotte, however, threw a bit of a wobbler when the royals attempted to board a helicopter in Hamburg yesterday.

Perhaps tiredness from all the travelling had got to the little girl after an exciting five-day tour or maybe she was afraid of the helicopter but either way, Charlotte was not her usual sweet self.

While George was eager for a tour of a H145 helicopter, Charlotte was of an entirely different disposition after taking a tumble on the tarmac.

George couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he explored the plane but little Charlotte dragged her heels and looked upset at the prospect, according to The Mail Online.

It appeared as though she got a telling-off from mum Kate who looked stunning in a lilac Emilia Wickstead dress on the final day of the tour.

Charlotte looked slightly happier when the family later boarded their plane home, she was probably in need of a rest.

Meanwhile, Prince William told a group of young fans that little George was excited about his birthday celebrations.

“George has got a big tummy. He'll probably end up eating all his cake by himself,” he joked.

Last night, Kensington Palace unveiled a gorgeous new portrait of the four-year-old heir. The photo, taken by award winning royal photographer Chris Jackson perfectly captures George’s infectious personality and charming smile.

Kensington Palace tweeted: “Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to share this lovely picture, and would like to thank everyone for all of the kind messages they have received.

Today, Westminster Abbey rang their bells to celebrate the young royal’s fourth birthday. A tweet from the Abbey read: "The Abbey bell ringers are ringing 504 changes of Stedman Caters and 360 changes of Cambridge Surprise Royal #HappyBirthdayPrinceGeorge".

The #HappyBirthdayPrinceGeorge hashtag has been trending on Twitter as well-wishers celebrated the popular tot’s big birthday.

We’d like to wish him a very happy birthday and we hope little Charlotte is feeling better and enjoying the celebrations also.
