It’s quite well-known that Olly Murs and his twin brother, Ben, don’t speak; what we never knew, however, was how badly that affected their mother.
In a joint interview with Olly for The Sunday Times, mum Vickylynn has spoken of her heartbreak over the family feud.
It all began back in 2009, when Olly made it to the semi-finals of The X Factor.
When faced with missing Ben’s wedding or the show, Olly chose to follow his career – and Ben has since estranged himself from his twin and his family.
Opening up about how the incident affected her, 55-year-old Vickylynn said: “It was such a shock it made me ill.
“I even thought I had MS – I had to use a walking stick because my legs were so weak. I also couldn’t work. I was on the verge of a breakdown.”
The feud got even worse when Ben sold his story to The News of the World, with the now-32-year-old publicly disowning Olly.
“He’s a self-absorbed sell-out. Our family was torn apart because of The X Factor. Things have got to the point where, if I have children, I don’t even want Olly to meet them,” he said, at the time.
While Vickylynn lamented this weekend over her ‘broken heart’, Dear Darlin’ star Olly admitted that relations with Ben had been strained for a long time.
“We don’t speak…and that’s been extremely difficult. Long before X Factor there were problems between Ben and his girlfriend, and our family,” he revealed.
Olly recently made his feelings on the subject known in his hit, This Song Is About You.
