Olympic rower Helen Glover and her husband Steve Backshall have just welcomed a baby boy into their family.

The double-gold medallist posted a lovely photo saying: “Steve and I are excited to welcome Baby Boy Backshall to the world we promise to make it a great one for you little man.”

The announcement was made yesterday, and the couple have not yet announced their baby’s name to the public.

Helen married Steve Backshall, BAFTA-winning English naturalist, author, and television presenter, in 2016.

Despite a tough and tragic pregnancy, Helen’s birth seems to have gone well.

In April, the couple were heartbroken when they experienced the miscarriage of baby boy Backshaw’s twin.

After receiving the terrible news, Helen told the public: “Thanks for all your lovely messages. We've had the hard news that one baby hasn’t made it but we are very excited and hopeful for the remaining baby to arrive this summer xx”

Their baby boy is already the love of their life and the dynamic duo cannot wait to begin their new journey together.

Steve announced on social media: “The biggest adventure begins.”

In 2012, Helen and her partner Heather Stanning made history when they took home the Olympic gold.

This was the first time the British women’s rowing team have taken first place, and four years later, they were champions again!

Helen is truly incredible and an inspiration when it comes to overcoming hardships, whether it is as an athlete or a mum.

We are ecstatic for the happy couple and hope to see more photos of their new baby boy soon!
