There have been multiple reports of older mothers undergoing fertility treatment to fall pregnant with their much-longed-for babies, but Maria Rosaria Veneruso has proven herself to be a bit of a medical marvel.

The Italian, who is one of the world’s oldest women to conceive naturally, has welcomed her first child at the age of 61.

According to Italian media, Maria and husband Enzo welcomed a son named Elia Francesco this week.

Speaking to local media after her natural birth, Maria gushed: “I have fulfilled my dream. The future does not scare me.”

Maria came very close to breaking a world record with her pregnancy. Records show that the oldest woman ever to conceive naturally was a 62-year-old who welcomed triplets back in the 1880s.

Meanwhile, Daljinder Kaur, from India, became the world’s oldest mother when she welcomed a son back in May of this year. The 72-year-old and her husband had spent two years undergoing IVF treatment before falling pregnant with their little one.

Congratulations to Maria and Enzo; we wish them all the best as they embark on their journey through parenthood.

SHARE to spread their joy this morning.
