Any parent who has had a child with a serious illness or life-threatening condition will know just how heart-breaking it is to watch them suffer, and so no doubt every one of you will sympathise with the Egyptian family in the following report.

The parents of conjoined twin girls have issued an urgent appeal for help to separate their daughters, amid fears that the 10-month-old tots could soon lose their fight for life.

Fatma Yousry and Islam Hassan are parents to little Mai and Menna, who are joined at the head. The girls are reported to be in poor health, and their parents now fear that their time may be running out.

So far, the couple have been unable to get treatment to separate their girls. According to a report by Fox28, concerned father Islam is a farm hand who earns just $150 a month – leaving the family a long way from being able to pay for such a complex treatment.

According to Fox28’s report, Islam told local media: “Every day, I pray for God to save them, and that one day someone could separate them.”

Let’s hope that someone with the heart and the means to help will step in and do an amazing thing for this family.

We will keep you updated on Mai and Menna’s story as more information emerges.
