A couple who drew up a bucket list for their unborn child, diagnosed in the womb with a rare terminal condition, shared precious moments with their son before he sadly passed away today.

Just 13 weeks into their pregnancy, Jenna Gassew and Dan Haley received the news that their unborn son, Shane Michael, had anencephaly – a rare terminal condition in which part of the brain and skull are absent.

Upon learning the devastating news, Jenna and Dan created a bucket list of activities to do with their baby while he was still in the womb, and documented their journey through a special Facebook page.

The couple, from Pennsylvania, shared photos of their trips to sports games, a tour of New York and a very special Mother’s Day celebration, wanting their baby to experience as many of life’s joys as possible.

When Jenna and Dan finally welcomed their son today, family and friends were on hand to greet their newest member, who was also baptised after his birth.

Tragically, Shane Michael passed away only a short few hours later, with Jenna and Dan posting a tribute to him on their Facebook page, reading: “Shane spent his entire life in the arms of people that loved him unconditionally and I don't think you could ask for a more beautiful life than that .. he is home now with the Lord and will forever be our little miracle!”

What an incredible couple. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.
