Tennessee photographer, Nicki Kaylor, came up with an idea for a photoshoot after she saw firsthand the rude remarks made to mums.

Her series called Latched With Love depicts breastfeeding mums, but aside from breastfeeding, all mums have something else in common.

Each one is holding a placard with the rude comments and judgements passed upon them for feeding their hungry baby.

Nicki remarked: "These nine gorgeous mamas are fierce and determined. Through any catty remarks. They still stand PROUDLY nursing."

The photographers goal is to help normalise breastfeeding, claiming this was the inspiration behind the impromptu shoot.

"The judgement and awkward stares against breastfeeding need to end. Nurturing your child from your body is something SO special. It's not as easy as everyone thinks. It takes a lot of determination."

"From constant nursing, comfort nursing, the let down, hearing a child cry in the store and your breast fill up with milk even though it's not your child,(YES! that happens!). Mothers who breastfeed should be APPLAUDED. Not judged nor stared at."

Reaffirming all mums that breastfeeding is pure, beautiful and natural, the amazing series has hit us hard, reminding us of the stigma associated with such a natural act.

Sitting together the group wrote down some of the passing remarks and comments they have received, ones which they do not believe to be OK, or fair.

"If you see a mother nursing her child in public, please do not approach her with rude words. Smile and continue on your way or tell her how AWESOME she is!"

"If you nurse, I want you to know how PROUD I am of you. Nursing is a job all in itself. You could have easily quit and switched to bottles, but the determination has you where you are today."

This post has literally given us all the feels, we're so proud of all the breatsfeeding mamas out there - have you ever encountered passing comments on your breastfeeding journey?
