A number of mums have taken to the public forum to condemn censorship of images relating to breastfeeding and periods, and now mum-of-three Morag Hasting has sent the strongest statement yet regarding birth photos.

The professional photographer has hit back at Facebook, after an image she shared of a baby emerging from its mother’s body led to a 30-day ban on her page.

Morag Hasting captured the incredible shot as the woman gave birth standing up, and it attracted plenty of attention and praise when she posted it on her official page, Apple Blossom Families.

However, just two weeks later, Morag's account was suspended entirely for 30 days, and she now has no administrative access to it. Facebook is also threatening to un-publish it altogether, which will cause Morag to lose her 23,000-plus following.

As a self-employed mother, you can imagine just how distressing this situation was for her – she had shared a proud example of her work, and she was being punished for doing so, even though her followers were amazed by the scene.

In an emotionally-charged blog post, Morag took on Facebook’s head honchos to ask ‘why is this happening’, when sexualised images of naked women are not subject to the same censorship.

"This image did not show 'full buttocks' and definitely did not contain 'sexual content'. The image that they removed showed a powerful woman catching her own baby standing up, there was a bit of the bottom of my client’s bum, thighs, baby's head... and some blood,” she explained.

Calling on Facebook to ‘get with the times’, Morag added: “It’s 2016, women are way more than sexual objects, we are amazing creatures that create life and we want to freely share it with each other so we can learn about birth in a healthy way."
