Police have appealed for the mother of a child found abandoned in North Wales this week to come forward.

According to reports, the newborn baby girl was discovered early on Tuesday morning, at a bus stop in Towyn, Conwy.

The infant was completely alone, at approximately 7:15am, with no sign of anybody else at the scene, near the Magpie and Stump pub.

The authorities were called, and the tot was brought to a nearby hospital, where she is being cared for. Police, meanwhile, have sealed off the bus stop as a forensics team carries out its investigation.

With the child now safe in medical care, the North Wales police have turned their attention towards locating her mother.

Police representative Helen Douglas issued an appeal directly to the mother, encouraging her to come forward and assure them that she is safe.

“We want Mum to know that she [the baby] is currently being cared for and treated in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

“We are concerned about the health of the mother of the baby girl, and are appealing for her to come forward by contacting me, Helen, on 07835 923787.

“Likewise, if you are a concerned friend, relative or neighbour of the mother, you can also contact me on the same number.”

Anyone who may have information that could help the police with their investigation is also asked to get in touch with the authorities. You can do so by calling the standard 101 number, and quoting the reference number V103529.

Let’s hope that this little baby and her mother get the care and support they need at this difficult time.
