Mum Jo Paine and her baby son Harrison will be forever grateful to PC Steve Norton who sprung into action when Jo was unable to revive her son who had stopped breathing.

Having called emergency services and attempted to resuscitate her two-month-old son, a panicked Jo ran onto the street when the ambulance was slow to arrive.

Bumping into PC. Norton, the desperate mum passed the child to the officer and according to PC Norton said: "I don't know what else to do."

Taking baby Harrison in his arms, the police officer sprinted to Wandsworth Hospital which was thankfully in sight.

Harrison, who was born at just 26 weeks, made a full recovery thanks to PC Norton's speedy response.

Commenting on the incident in an interview with Good Morning Britain, the officer said: "I just thought if he was my son I'd want to get him help as quickly as possible."

Harrison's mum has since become friends with PC Norton and presented him with a keyring engraved with the words "Forever thankful".

Admitting she had no words that could ever describe her gratitude, Jo then encouraged other mothers to educate themselves should they ever face an incident like hers, saying: "And I would say to new mums, take a CPR course, it really is worth it."
