When a call came through that a mum had gone into labour on the way to hospital, Camden officers, PC Liam O’Halloran and PC Yasa Amerat, never expected that they would have to act quickly in order to save the youngster's life.

After meeting the mum and dad at the University Hospital car park, the officers discovered that the baby had to be delivered there and then as the head was crowning. Unfortunately, it wasn't a straightforward delivery and the little girl, who was later named Emily, was born purple with the cord wrapped around her neck.

However, their quick-thinking to use a pair of loose tuff scissors from the squad car, meant that the officers were able to free the baby, helping her to breathe until doctors arrived.

Talking about the incredible acts of the officers, the father of the little girl, Justin Marshall, said: "We are so unbelievably thankful for the help of PC Liam O'Halloran and PC Yasa Amerat. If it weren't for PC O'Halloran's calm actions under pressure I'd have no idea if my beautiful daughter Emily would be with us now. We will be forever grateful to Liam and Yasa for their help."

Clearly proud of the role they played, PC Yasa Amerat, said: "As police officers we deal with a range of issues which are often related to injuries and death so it's a nice feeling to see and be part of the start of someone's life."
