Having once hit the top of the charts with smash hit song, I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker, Sandi Thom's career appeared destined for great things, but unfortunately the singer's success was short lived - a fact which she lamented in a recent social media upload.

Outlining her frustration with the music industry, the singer who recently announced her pregnancy, shared an emotionally-driven insight into her stance on the pressure placed on musicians and performers today.

The video, which garnered considerable attention last week, was both lauded and criticised in equal parts, with many members of the public accusing the performer of pulling a publicity stunt.

Addressing the claims, the singer spoke to The Telegraph and reaffirmed her position on the matte while defending her decision to upload the footage.

Explaining her upset at Radio 2's decision to exclude her single Earthquake from their playlist, Sandi justified her response, saying: "Much the same way as you have a kneejerk when you’re mad at someone, it was the same train of thought as an angry text."

"I wanted to share my disappointment and genuine upset. The whole thing was honest, it was real emotion." she said of accusations she orchestrated the entire thing.

"There was no real process behind it. It was just me in my living room, receiving really disappointing news and coupled with the fact I'm six months pregnant," she explained before going on to outline the various reasons behind her outpouring of emotion.

"It was the culmination of seven years of disappointment as an independent artist, including self-promotion, self management and self-releasing. I’ve been trying to win radio and music industry bosses' approval for a long time, and it's constantly disappointing," she admitted.

The 34-year-old singer and mum-to-be wholly denies her upload was for publicity reasons, insisting; "I live a private life. I don’t do professional celeb."

Sandi is due her little one in March of next year.
