While the majority of us mums can acknowledge that pregnancy and the emotions that go with it are far from easy, it's not often we hear a celebrity admit to the worries, concerns and fears faced by most expectant woman at some stage or another in their journey.
Breaking the mould this week, former Hear'say member, Suzanne Shaw, opened up about her concerns as she journeys ever closer to her due date.
The mum-of-one, who announced her pregnancy in March, used her blog with Closer magazine to highlight the issues she has been facing and the possibilities which have consumed her while awaiting the arrival of her second child.
Revealing that things have been far from easy, the 33-year-old-performer, who first became a mum in 2004, said: "It's been a tough week for me. I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and I'm feeling a little all over the place. Not sure whether my hormones are playing a huge part or past experiences are haunting me."
Admitting to 'overwhelming feelings of worry and panic', the pregnant star wondered if they stemmed from her high profile difficulties, saying: "My past has been well documented over the years. Things didn't work out with Corey's dad; I had a failed marriage after that, plus my parents divorced when I was 14 years old, so you can imagine the tricks playing on my mind... The 'what ifs'."
The star, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Sam Greenfield, was quick to assure fans and followers that her concerns do not stem from her current relationship which she pays tribute to when she says: "I'm certainly not suggesting that there is anything wrong in my relationship and I've never felt more supported. I'm extremely open with Sam, I sometimes think he'd rather I kept my constant thinking to myself but he doesn't say anything; he just listens."
Despite this, the star revealed that certain concerns continue to plague her, writing: "What if I'm left holding the baby again? What if our careers drive us apart? What if I can't juggle my work with two children (it's been hard enough with one)?"
Suzanne, who was voted Celebrity Mum of the Year in 2008, suggested that these worries were part and parcel of every pregnant woman's journey, but insisted that talking about them is a form of catharsis, saying: "I know being nervous and a little scared is normal when you're expecting, but I feel it's important to talk about exactly how I'm feeling from the heart."
Despite her concerns, the expectant star was keen to look to the future, asserting: "Luckily, I know the immense love you feel when your child arrives and it doesn't matter how bad it gets as long as your children are happy and healthy."
We admire Suzanne's honesty and wish her all the best with the rest of her journey.
