Some devastating and shocking news has made the headlines around the world today, as police in the States confirmed that a pregnant woman has died after an attack by another woman.
According to reports, the 22-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in an apartment in the Bronx, New York.
When police arrived on the scene, they found another woman clutching a newborn baby girl. The woman claimed that she was the child’s mother, and that she had recently given birth.
Despite the woman’s claims however, police discovered evidence indicating that the deceased woman was in fact the baby’s mother, and the child had been ‘surgically removed’ from her body.
The child was thankfully unhurt after the incident and is being treated at a nearby hospital.
Local councilman Andy King told local media: “It appeared that the foetus of the 22-year-old woman was surgically removed by the alleged perpetrator, who is in custody right now.”
“When the cops arrived, the perpetrator claimed it was her child…and that she gave birth at the time of the struggle,” Mr King added.
The suspect’s boyfriend is also said to have been questioned by police, who have pledged to release more information as soon as the Medical Examiner performs a post-mortem.
