Being pregnant with twins means you are twice as tired, twice as hormonal and twice as emotional. All this can leave you feeling extra fatigued and unwell and, to add to your stress, you need to get the house ready for two babies and buy two sets of baby equipment.

To help make it a little easier on mums, we have a compiled a list of things you need to get and things you need to do:

Get a car seat
One of the first things you need to do is go out and purchase car seats. You will need to get individual ones and brand new. Avoid purchasing secondhand ones as they may not be fit for purpose and are likely to be missing important fitting instructions and may even be missing a part that you are not aware is missing.

Buy a buggy
Your next stop is to get a buggy. Having twins will mean you will need to get a double buggy and while there are plenty to choose from, you will need to decide on whether you want forward facing, side-by-side, behind each other or underneath. Think about how long you plan on keeping the stroller for - until they are toddlers or beyond - as this will influence your choice.

Cot
It is ok for twins to share a cot while they are really small, however, once they start moving and rolling over, they will need to be placed in individual beds. When choosing one, you will need to determine how big the room they will be in is, if you want cot beds or just cots and whether you will be putting them into a moses basket first.

Names
Now is the time to decide on a name for your little ones. Choosing one is bad enough but with twins you have the added pressure of two names - start early as you may need plenty of time for this.

Stock up
Now is the time to stock up on nappies, baby lotion, wipes, and cotton wool, and lots of it. You won’t have time when your babies arrive so start now. And while you’re at it, stock up on cupboard essential and batch freeze plenty of nutritious dinners – the last thing you will want to do is cook.
