Despite Rachel McAdams starring in some of the biggest blockbusters - ever - she remains both hugely underrated and tied to the ultimate film that's almost too good to be branded a chick flick: Mean Girls.

In Regina George, McAdams created an iconic character (not far behind her character in The Notebook) with one-liners still brilliant and relevant to this day.

Despite a lot of versatility as an actress, she says that she's somewhat followed by her time as George, and that she's most recognised for it.

When asked the question of whether she felt haunted by the essence of the character in 2018, the star of The Vow had to admit, that she never went too far without her turn in the film being mentioned.

"Does Regina George haunt me every day? She does have that quality," she told the New York Times. "I have to thank Regina George for giving me some longevity. I’m forever grateful to Tina Fey and Mark Waters. I remember when I read [the script for Mean Girls], I called my agent right away and said, 'I will play any part in this, please, please, please.' I was at the beginning of my career, and it was a lofty thing out there, that I really, really, really wanted to do."

And though she wasn't asked directly about those Mean Girls sequel rumours, it sounds like she wouldn't at least consider playing someone similar again in the near future.

I’m always looking for larger-than-life characters, which is probably why I like playing villains. They get away with so much."

She also said that she didn't mind taking a back-seat in some of her movies - though while Lindsey Lohan technically played the lead with McAdams in a supporting role, it was McAdams who stole the show - for a reason that we can all relate to: daytime naps.

"I certainly don’t mind playing supporting roles at all... I would be a basket case if I always played the lead role. Sometimes it’s nice to put the same amount of work into a character that has less screen time. You can dig into them but you also get to nap in your trailer for half the day, too."
