If you’re looking for a little light comic relief, social networking site Reddit is always a good place to check out, as one new father confirmed this week.
Having recently welcomed a son into the world, he was presented with an itemised statement of services from the hospital – and he couldn’t help but poke fun at some of the entries.
While the total bill for the birth of his little one amounted to just over $13,000, there was one item in particular that Reddit user ‘halfthrottle’ took issue with.
I had to pay $39.35 to hold my baby after he was born.
Next to the ‘skin-to-skin after C-section’ item was the price ‘$39.95’ – which ‘halfthrottle’ took quite literally.
“I had to pay $39.95 to hold my baby after he was born,” he wrote, much to the amusement of the Reddit community.
While some people were just outraged over the breakdown of the bill, others couldn’t help but see the funny side.
“Eventually, you’ll happily pay $39 to have someone else hold your baby,” quipped one Redditor.
Meanwhile, another observed: “And you got charged for a lactation consultation for each breast!”
There were some who were actually pleasantly surprised by how cheap the bill was - including ourselves!
