While we tend to focus our attention on our face as we get older, our breasts can suffer just as much from our unhealthy habits. Here are just five of our regular habits that are causing our breasts to sag.

1. Wearing the wrong sized bra

An ill-fitting bra doesn’t offer the correct support for your chest, which can wreak havoc with the skin of your breasts. A lack of support causes the skin to stretch and sag, so it is really important to get measured each time you go to purchase a new bra.

2. Smoking

It would appear that there is nothing that smoking doesn’t adversely affect in our bodies. As smoking decreases the blood supply to the skin, weakening it and causing it to roughen and sag, this is also bad news for our breasts.

3. Not drinking enough water

The benefits of drinking enough water every day are endless, with protection and care for your skin topping the list. Not drinking enough water will cause the skin of your breasts (and the rest of your body) to appear shrunken and saggy.

4. Overexposure to the sun

While we all love to lie out in the sun, it is so important to apply a suncream to any exposed areas. One area that you should never overlook is your chest, even if you are wearing a top. Be sure to apply cream to your décolletage and the top of your breasts, as sun damage will cause premature aging and sagging in the area.

5. Yo-yoing weight

Gaining and losing weight quickly, over and over, isn’t healthy for your system in general, but this is particularly true of your breasts. As they are the first area to slim down when you lose weight, doing so at frequent intervals will stretch the skin and cause it to sag.
