Our babies are totally unique, from the very moment they are formed inside of us – and so it follows that we want to give them a name that is equally special and fitting.

While we all have our favourites, whether they are a part of family tradition or have always held a special place in our hearts; we are always on the lookout for new baby-naming inspiration.

You will be pleased to know then, that that is exactly what we have for you today, following the release of the most popular baby names in the States this year.

That’s right; Nameberry, the baby name generating website, has released the most popular names of 2017 so far, and there are some really beautiful options for expectant couples.

So far this year, Asher and Olivia are the two monikers that have stolen the hearts of parents in the US.

The complete top 10 lists are as follows:

Boys Girls
1. Asher 1. Olivia
2. Atticus 2. Amelia
3. Jack 3. Charlotte
4. Ezra 4. Isla
5. Theodore 5. Isabella
6. Milo 6. Ava
7. Jasper 7. Aurora
8. Oliver 8. Evelyn
9. Silas 9. Penelope
10. Wyatt 10. Eleanor

Florals were previously predicted to be a popular theme for 2017's baby names, and one glance at the top 100 preferred choices for girls proves the forecasts correct. Indeed, Iris, Violet and Ivy are among our favourites in Nameberry's latest compilation.

Of course, other names are more noticeable for their unusual quality; Khaleesi, coming in as an homage to Emilia Clarke's Game of Thrones character, takes up a spot at number 79.

New additions to the top 100 prove that celebrity influence is alive and well, with Ines (Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' second child) and Alexandra (Khloe Kardashian's middle name) both featuring.

As for the boys, Biblical names are definitely making a comeback, with Nathaniel, Jacob and Isaiah all entering the top 100. Elsewhere in the list, new additions include the likes of Everett, Dante, Rhett and Augustus. Fancy!

Of course, just like with the girls, there were so pretty unique new entries to the list - how do you feel about Ryker and Maverick?!

What are your thoughts on this new list? Have you spied a name that you would love to give to your own little one? Be sure to let us know!
