Raised by two of Hollywood’s most famous stars, young Maddox Jolie-Pitt is no stranger to a film set.

The 16-year-old was recently given the important role of executive producer on mum Angelina’s new movie First They Killed my Father.

Maddox had many duties on set from assisting in meetings, prepping for shoots and reviewing dailies on the drama. He told People: “I was trying to help wherever I could”.

And he wasn’t the only one. Younger brother Pax also got involved in the production and worked as a set photographer.

Gushing about director mum Angelina, Maddox said: “She’s fun, funny, and easy to work with. She’s a wonder.”

The movie is set in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge genocide and tells the story of Angelina’s close friend Luong Ung who lived there at the time.

Angelina has close ties with Cambodia after she adopted Maddox there in 2002. Maddox encouraged his mother to make the movie about his home country and studied many documentaries about the genocide. He also assisted with the script.

Speaking about the possible emotional turmoil the youngster might face on learning more about the genocide, Angelina said: “Mad knows himself very well and if he said he was ready, I knew he knew.

“He goes back and forth to Cambodia a lot, but this would be over four months of just being in the country, really reading, listening, learning and absorbing all things about his culture and country (including) the very, very dark parts”.

It’s been a difficult year for the Jolie-Pitt children after Angelina and Brad split after ten years together.

Reflecting on her children's tough time, the actress said:  "I think they’re itching to get out in the world again.

"We’ve all been a bit in lockdown and going through some things. I think it would be good to get out there and play together," the mum-of-six said.

In a recent interview, Angelina admitted she found being single difficult after so many years in a relationship.

"I don't enjoy being single. It's not something I wanted. There’s nothing nice about it.

“Sometimes it appears I’m pulling it all together but really I’m just trying to get through my days. Emotionally it’s been a very difficult year,” she admitted.
