Just two days after the death of her beloved husband René, renowned Canadian singer, Céline Dion,  is now mourning the loss of her older brother, Daniel.

Releasing a statement to the press, the family of the much-loved  singer announced the passing of her older sibling following a heartbreaking battle with throat, tongue and brain cancer.

“Battling cancer for a few years, it’s in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today January 16. He was the eight child of Therese and Adhemar Dion, brther of Celine.”

Paying tribute to the father-of-two, Céline’s family acknowledged Daniel’s sweet nature, calling him a “gentle and reserved man of many talents.”
 


Speaking to French – Canadian newspaper, Journal de Montreal, Céline’s sister, Claudette,  took solace from the fact her brother was finally free from pain, saying: “He was ready, and isn’t suffering any more. He was at peace.”

It is understood that Daniel, who was one of 14 siblings raised in Montreal, was surrounded by family when he passed away at a palliative care centre in Terrebonne Québec.

Céline, who shares three children with the her late husband, was in Law Vegas planning her René's  funeral arrangements when she learned of her older brother’s death yesterday,
