Being a mum is hard and exhausting work, and, unfortunately, we can find ourselves running extremely low on patience. This usually ends up causing you to lash out at the people you love the most.

 

Thankfully, there are plenty of things you can do to ensure you are a more patient person, and better able to handle situations that aren’t going to plan.

 

1. Breathe

Take slow, deep breaths and count to ten. This will help lower your heart rate and distance you from the situation.

 

2. Manage your emotions

You can choose to be patient or not.

 

3. Tell yourself to calm down

Getting yourself worked up is not going to get you there faster.

 

 

4. Let it go

If you’re running late for a meeting just phone ahead to let them know and then just let it go. It's not going to be the end of the world if you are behind schedule.

 

5. Put things in perspective

Look at the bigger picture and ask yourself: “Will this matter tomorrow, next week or even next year?”

 

6. Life is not perfect

For many of us, our impatience is solely down to our need to be perfect. Life is not about perfection, it is about living.
