Whether you leave the house to go to work or you are a stay at home mum, you will reach a point in the day when you literally feel like lying down on the ground, crawling into a ball and going asleep.

Unfortunately, when you have a toddler, the reality of that actually happening is slim to none!

If you are feeling exhausted and your toddler has at least two hours of energy to burn, the following advice will help you get through it:

Draw with them

Drawing is not only a great way to keep your little one entertained and happy, it also involves a lot sitting down which is exactly what you need right now.

Storytime

Find a quiet, comfy spot in your home, grab a book, a blanket, and spend the next hour recharging your batteries with a cup of tea and some quality reading time with your little one.

Guess the toy

You can totally do this lying down! Get your little one to bring you various toys and with your eyes closed try to guess what it is they have brought you. Be careful you don’t nod off!

Build a fort

Ok this one involves a little bit of energy, but once it’s done your little one will never want to come out of it! Pile it with loads of pillows and both of you can pretend you’re camping!

Play the quiet game

Simply tell them that the last person to speak is the winner! We’re not sure how long this will last, but, even if you only get five minutes out of it, it will be five minutes well spent.

Get your hair done

Do this if you dare! Give your little one a hairbrush and allow them free range of your hair. You never know, you might get a bit of a massage in there somehow!

Movie day

There is nothing quite like a good movie to keep your little one happy! You can even give them a treat or two if you like. Grab a blanket and get comfy!

Give them a bath

The best thing about the bath is you don’t have to run around after your little one, there is nowhere for them to go! Your little one will also be pretty clean after!
